29 December 2018: Somali military court has on Saturday executed Al-Shabaab member who assassinated a famous cleric in Baidoa last year.

Mohamed Adan Ali Barrow was killed via firing squad in Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of Southwest state of Somalia.

He was found guilty by the martial court for killing Sheikh Mader Madgab Aliyow inside Baidoa mosque on 16th of June last year.

The court said he was a member of the armed group al-Shabaab.

The execution was witnessed by the judge of the military court colonel Hassan Alinur Shuteye and other court officials.

Somali military court carried out trials related to terror in recent years, and it has tried hundreds of al-Shabaab militants including senior officials to a death sentence.

The human rights organisations have called for the complete elimination of the death sentence trial by the court.
